The Embassy of Libya Hosts an Education and Cultural Experience Event in Washington, D.C.
In a call between Ambassador Wafa Bugaighis and Senator Cory Booker, member of the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy and the Subcommittee on Near East, South Asia, Central Asia, and Counterterrorism, both iterated the importance of congressional support for the new Government of National Unity. In particular, both noted the efforts of the GNU in combating COVID-19 and efforts toward ridding the country of foreign forces and mercenaries, which is essential to the efficacy of elections scheduled for the end of this year. To that end, Ambassador Bughaighis stressed the need for continuous U.S. engagement, as this support is critical to the Libyan people’s drive toward peace and democracy.
