The Embassy of Libya Hosts an Education and Cultural Experience Event in Washington, D.C.
On December 8th, Ambassador Bughaghis met virtually with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for North Africa Karen Sasahara. Both the Ambassador and the Deputy Assistant Secretary conversed on the most current developments pertaining to Libya’s political, security, and economic tracks.
Ambassador Bughaighis expressed that the continuous negative external interference in Libya is contributing to the lingering of the conflict and instability taking place within the country, ultimately causing the loss of precious life and resources. Additionally, the Ambassador noted that there are still challenges towards enacting a sustainable ceasefire, consequently impacting the success of the political process that Libyans hope will lead to elections.
In turn, Deputy Assistant Secretary Sasahara expressed the United States government’s commitment to supporting Libya’s plight towards sustainable stability and peace. Additionally, she stressed the need to build on the momentum created by the ongoing Libyan dialogue on the various tracks.
