Ambassador and DAA Doherty Exchange Updates on Libyan Developments

On 31 March 2021, Ambassador Bughaighis, along with members of the Embassy’s political sector, held a virtual meeting with Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) Megan Doherty of USAID’s Bureau for the Middle East. In their call, Ambassador Bughaighis provided updates on recent developments in Libya, highlighting the optimism in the country due to the recent formation of the Government of National Unity. 

 

In turn, DAA Doherty and USAID Bureau staff exchanged updates on their projects in Libya, noting areas for further work and also progress in this regard. Ambassador Bughaighis thanked DAA Doherty and her staff for their efforts and continuous partnership toward the betterment and prosperity of Libya, stressing the need for further technical assistance in capacity building for election preparedness, health infrastructure, and electricity distribution.
